As part of US Figure Skating's Aspire program initiative, Aspire Academy is designed for skaters who are transitioning between Learn to Skate and becoming a US figure skating club member. This program is for skaters that are becoming fully interested in the sport and ready to learn the skills they need to make the most out of their figure skating journey.

After your skater passes Freeskate 3 in Learn to Skate you can join the Aspire Academy.

At Compton Family Ice Arena there will be no more classes in Learn to Skate past freeskate 3. This is the next step.

In the Aspire Academy skaters will learn about the US figure skating test structure. They will continue learning jumps/spins/etc. as well as the skills for the first US figure skating test. The end goal of this program is to pass the first test. This can take 2 -3 sessions.

FAQ

What can we do if we cannot attend class?

Like every new program we are learning the needs of our skaters. We will keep in consideration a day that might be better for our skaters but know we can't accommodate all schedules. If you can't attend Sunday class you can always contact a private coach and set up private lessons. Coach fees will be paid directly to the coach as well as setting up lessons. Most private lessons cost $20-$30 for a half hour lesson. Each coach has their own rate. You can also ask coaches if they are willing do a semi-private lesson with 1 or 2 other skaters to alleviate the cost. This is all up to the discretion of the coach.

If you are interested in private lessons please email us with a subject line of "Private Lessons". We will make sure you get a list of coaches. michianaicefsc@gmail.com

If we can't attend class do we still need an Aspire membership?

Yes, the benefits are great. While you may not be able to attend our Aspire Academy class right now you might in the future. We cannot prorate the Aspire membership should you decide to get the membership in January for example. With the Aspire membership not only would you be able to attend our class you will get discounted rates on open freestyle and any other specialty class we may add in the future.
